About…

I could write a PT spiel here about wanting to help you achieve your health & fitness goals but if it was me I’d find it boring and skip past it. Of course as a PT that’s what my aim is! So I’ll save you the spiel and just get to it. I qualified as a PT because training changed and became a big part of my life. It’s been there through all the shit life has thrown, through the best times and the worst. I’ve always had the ability to get through things because training made my mindset & my body stronger. I simply wanted fitness as a job because I love it. And here I am.

Do you even train?

Ok, so qualifications are relevant when it comes to working with people in the health/fitness industry, but actually - these days most fitness instructor/PT courses are too easy to obtain. For me, experience is more relevant and more important when it comes to choosing someone to work with.

Here, I’m just going to give a brief history of my training experience without the fluffy bits (I might do a blog post with a bit more detail for anyone vaguely interested!) just so y’all can see that I’ve done the work myself in order to tell you what to do!

After being a swimmer forever since I was about 5, I shifted my training focus when I was about 21 to high intensity outdoor sessions with a friend, and running. I then soon started weight training alongside some proper brutal cardio circuits (courtesy of Spartan HQ Gym) - getting into the habit eventually of training 6-7 times per week.

I have always weight trained since 2012, but alongside this I did a stint of CrossFit for a few years, as well as entering a few triathlons. I have always dipped in and out of running and teach weekly spin classes, of which I think has kept my cardio fitness maintained through the years. Im also partial to a bit of sea swimming and road biking - but more for the social side!

After all of that, I’ve done a full 360 and I’m currently back to weight training and some hard cardio circuits at Spartan HQ and it’s honestly the most content I have felt with training for years. It’s how I like to train, and it’s getting me the progression in strength, fitness and body image that I want. It works for me, and that’s all that matters - the same goes for anyone getting into training., it has to work for you.
